I have a passion for art. I grew up in Talc, Chile, the youngest of four. I was born in 1971, just two years before our president was murdered and replaced by a dictator. Thus began fifteen years of military catastrophe for my people and country. As is usual under dictatorial regimes, artists, musicians, and poets were murdered. Art was replaced by guns and violence. My family became poor like so many others. We lived day to day, without opportunity or dreams.

Always a bit of a rebel and the black sheep of my family, I began to notice my artistic abilities. I drew and painted like no one else in school, living for the day we had art class. Often my paintings disappeared among my classmates and teachers. As an adult, I made compromises: I became an electrician, but I always painted. I painted for beauty, I painted for freedom, and I painted for joy!

My arrival in Vermont in 2018 has offered opportunity I never had before. Although now we are free of Pinochet, my country still does not have the luxury of art. I began a new life after meeting my other inspiration: my wife, Patti Weisser. Vermont has welcomed me with open arms, and my paintings can now be seen in many homes in the area.

As an older man, I trust 100% that love and perseverance bring joy. My Pawlet gallery is called Alegria Arte, which translates to Joy Art. I’m forever grateful for your appreciation and the opportunity of my life.
